There are 3 different ways that we like to sell our products to our local consumers.
We can design a package that can fit pretty much any size families needs, but for simplicities sake, we have a few "pre-fabbed" formats that are easy-peasy to use.

#1) Bulk Beef or Pork
We can do whole, halves and quarters of our hogs and beef steers. All you need to do is let us know in advance and we will sign you up for whatever portion fits your needs.
Below are some common terms used in the beef business that will help you with ordering. As with anything that has to do with animals, there is always some variation in sizes.
Live Weight: This is how much the animal weighs while it is growing. Sometimes referred to as "on-the-hoof".
- A whole beef steer should be about 1200 pounds live.
- A whole hog should be about 250 pounds live.
Hanging Weight: This is how much the animal weighs after dispatch once the head, hide, hooves, entrails and other "undesirables" are removed. This is the price per pound that you pay when buying bulk from us at MooShine Cattle Co.
- A whole beef steer should be about 600 pounds hanging.
- A whole hog should be about 175 pounds hanging.
Cut Weight: This is the amount of meat that will go into your freezer, sometimes called "freezer weight". This is once all the bones and excess fat is removed and the meat is all cut and packaged.
- A whole beef steer should be about 300 pounds in packages.
- A whole hog should be about 140 pounds in packages.

#2) CSA Shares
We offer a variety of options for our CSA members. Click on the "More Info" button below to see more details about our CSA Program!
What is Community Supported Agriculture? (CSA)
Community Supported Agriculture (or CSA) is a way for people to become more involved in their farming community. By purchasing a CSA share, you and your family are subscribing to a locally based food distribution system and are supporting local agriculture and business. Here’s how it works!
1. You purchase a full or a half CSA share from MooShine Cattle Co. Your CSA share purchase helps us run the farm and grow our animals. It also gives us a way to get to know you, our customer! 2. You receive a monthly variety of fresh and scrumptious beef, pork and chicken! You get to reap the benefits of having “your own farm” without any of the farming hours or chores. You will receive the best quality fresh meat to feed your family and you will know where your food comes from and who grew it (us!). We offer manageable portions, so having a giant chest freezer is NOT required. The variety of food provided each month helps make cooking for your family fun and interesting. |
How Do I sign up?
Its Easy!
Step 1) Decide if you need a full or half share. Step 2) Decide if you want to sign up for a 1 year, 6 month or month-to-month time commitment. Step 3) Fill out your shopping list form, and pick up your meat! Each month, you may renew the same or change your CSA package. All you need to do is fill out your shopping list, and send it back to us with an email, facebook message, snail mail envelope, phone call or text. We will set up a payment/renewal date with you and a pickup date for your meat. All the meat is frozen, vacuum sealed and labelled at a clean, inspected, modern and local meat processing facility. |
